Max Hair Thailand publishes an FUE-MAX promotional package at ฿89,000 (about $2,690) without saying how many grafts it covers, and a medical travel listing site shows ฿205,000 (about $6,190) at Bangkok Hospital Phuket, again with no graft count. As a guide, patients in Bangkok report paying ฿65-90 per graft at three of the six clinics we track, which is ฿162,500-225,000 (about $4,900-$6,790) for 2,500 grafts before travel.

How Hair Transplant Pricing Works in Phuket

The Bangkok clinics we track price per graft (Hairsmith publishes ฿80 per graft, for example), and many US clinics do too. In Phuket, the only price a clinic publishes itself is a package (Max Hair's ฿89,000 FUE-MAX). So ask any Phuket clinic for a per-graft rate and a graft count in writing.

Per-Graft Pricing: The Standard Model

What's a graft?

A graft (also called a follicular unit) is a naturally occurring group of 1-4 hairs that grow together. Most grafts contain 2-3 hairs. When your surgeon extracts and transplants a graft, they're moving an entire follicular unit - not individual hairs.

How pricing works:

Clinic quotes a price per graft. Your final cost = number of grafts × per-graft price.

Example:

• Price: ฿80/graft (what Hairsmith in Bangkok publishes, 2025 pricing)
• Grafts needed: 2,500
• Total procedure cost: 2,500 × ฿80 = ฿200,000 (about $6,040)

Why per-graft pricing is fair:

Someone with Norwood 2 (minor recession) might only need 1,500 grafts. Someone with Norwood 6 (extensive baldness) might need 4,000+ grafts. Per-graft pricing scales to your actual hair loss - you don't pay a flat fee that subsidizes other patients' larger procedures.

Price Variation by Technique

No Phuket clinic publishes a per-graft rate, so every figure in this table is from elsewhere in Thailand, mostly Bangkok: what clinics there publish, or what patients report paying.

We found no published price for body hair transplant (BHT), so we removed it from this table. Dollars at ฿33.14 = $1 (European Central Bank reference rates, 22 September 2026).

Does DHI cost more?

DHI uses a Choi Implanter Pen that creates the recipient site and places the graft in one step (vs. FUE's two-step process). Only CosmoPrime lists a DHI rate, ฿60-90 per graft, in a general price table on its own site. HairTran and Hairsmith include the implanter pen at their FUE price. Ask any Phuket clinic whether DHI changes the quote.

Why Non-Shaven FUE costs more:

The surgeon must work around long hair without shaving - significantly more difficult and time-consuming. Procedures take 7-9 hours (vs. 4-6 hours for standard FUE). In Bangkok, Hairsmith publishes ฿120 per graft for non-shaven FUE against ฿80 for standard FUE, and HairTran publishes ฿100 for no-shave.

FUT pricing:

FUT (strip method) extracts a strip of scalp from the donor area, which is then dissected into individual grafts. This is faster than FUE's one-by-one extraction. At Thai Hair Clinic in Chiang Mai, FUT is $1.89-$2.25 per graft against $3.00 for FUE (its own published rates). Trade-off: you get a linear scar on the back of your head (hidden by surrounding hair but permanent).

Important: FUT is less common in Phuket. Most clinics focus on FUE and DHI.

Note: Norwood 6-7 cases often require two sessions spaced 8-12 months apart. Your donor area (back/sides of head) has a finite supply of follicles - over-harvesting in one session risks depleted donor and unnatural-looking results.

Conservative surgeons will recommend splitting large procedures:
